Looking for wood-burning Campfire In A Can

Been contemplating outdoor, self-contained firepits, and have been leaning towards the Campfire In A Can (traditional) firepit. This is the wood, and non-propane version.

Of course, the manufacturer's own website says it's out of stock (with a new version coming soon), but I haven't been able to get in touch with the manufacturer to get an idea about the timeline for the new version, and I can't find the current version i stock anywhere. Anyone seen it available somewhere?

Re: Looking for wood-burning Campfire In A Can

Question

i like burning larger pieces of wood
like the flame arrest deal

however it looks like to cook over the campfire in a can
you have to have a pretty big source of fuel

our V stove (we cant say the word
will give a great fire with bundled wood cut in half
(meaning fuel lasts twice as long)
can use full pieces, burn down then use grill

diameter prob the same
closed height prob about half
weight about the same

comments / pros or cons?

Herb we have had much success with the Snow Peak , it stays in the SportsMobile at all times .
They offer number of accessories for it as well , all of which I think that I now own ( Wife Loves It )
Easy to Clean , Easier to Store , makes for a decent wood or charcoal fired Grill and very well constructed !

A nice part of the V stove

Collapses on itself for storage

I have watered the ashes
Let drain
or just simply done in morning
and collapsed, and stuck in storage bag

Keeping me and hands clean w/o touching ashes

Re: Looking for wood-burning Campfire In A Can

We built a couple of these stoves a few years ago after one of my Grandson's discovered the instructions at a yard sale . They work surprisingly well for the actual cooking but clean up of your cookware and transportation was a bugger . After we completed the building of a couple of matching Stoves I took four of my Grandson's and three of their friends into the San Gabriel Canyon for a Woodstock Barbecue , three years later they still think that it was the best meal ever . Good Stuff !

Managed to score a Campfire in a Can off a (Syracuse) Craigslist. $125 shipped.

Actually smaller than I expected, and I haven't even tried it yet, but I like the way it's put together.

I am happy with my V2, it collapses and packs easy. But the best thing about it is that it can use wood/charcoal or propane.

Did you get the propane only version Herb? I'd like to know the difference between the one you have and the little red campfire.
