Let's talk Forum Rally 09

I think we should talk about getting together in 2009. I was thinking of a longer planned (late summer) trip to somewhere farther away (Glacier National Park or Moab) that would draw more forum members from all over.

Farther away and more members would mean more lead time, more members means more planning (when we showed up in Death Valley we learned there is a group limit on vehicles), but it would also hopefully mean more attendance from members planning their trips around the event, as opposed to doing something sooner when things may already be scheduled.

The goal being to get together with other forum members over anything else, I'd like to see what people think about something in 2009.

As the leader/planner of last January's Death Valley Rally, I liked that others made planning suggestions as the trip evolved. I also liked that we were able to remote camp nearly every night. Traveling to more popular places during warmer and peak seasons is never on my list.

I was again in Moab this spring, and it is always a fantastic destination with plenty of spectacular off road opportunities.

Jeffrey,

Haven't you learned? Offering suggestions is how you "volunteer."

For my first big adventure I had planned on going from Texas to Glacier National Park. Due to the delay of getting my SMB and taking into consideration the weather up there this time of year I had to look at other options...and I'll be going through Moab in a few days on my way up to Salt Lake (unfortunately for work). I just figured I'd drive the new ride instead of flying.

I guess what I'm getting at is that I'm totally up for any place y'all might decide to get together in 2009. I've had my SMB for just over 2 weeks and have 600 miles on it...and I haven't even left town!

Rik,

I think this is the beginning of a great friendship.

We are game for pretty much anywhere or anything... the only problem for us is getting time off.. we both run a small business and right now the only days off for us, are holidays

There is a good chance we could go along.... we are planning a week during the summer to go somewhere and don't have a firm destination yet.

I can provide some suggestions for SMB travel around Glacier NP and a few other places in western Montana. The North Fork Flathead River Valley on the west side of Glacier is great for SMBs. You just have to know where to camp. Which can be revealed for a price of a good bottle of wine or two. Eh... maybe three.

It looks like we will be going up to the Yukon in the Sporty for a month next summer, so I'm not sure if we could attend a forum rally in Montana, but we would sure try!
