Re: TGTBT

I love your videos. Always enjoyable. Looks like the four of you had a good time! I never knew the Panhandle had country like that. I always assumed it was fairly flat and boring.

Re: TGTBT

Hey Marc,

Here is another Doppelganger of you. I thought of him the first time I saw you in the video when you flew out to get your Sportsmobile. His name is Kent and I used to work with him 10 plus years ago when I lived in NY. This photo is about a year old so if in ya all want to rob banks in Central NY as well you can go there too.

Re: TGTBT

LAYDEEEEZ an GINNAMIN! Presenting the third installment of the three part series on the Meetup at Palo Dura.

This video examines Marc and Christine's "Alternator Ordeal"

We left Palo Dura on Saturday morning with the goal of making it to Russellville, AR in 9.5 hours and an overnight stay @ Lake Dardanelle State Park and then 4.5 hours home on Sunday.

In the Palo Dura vid just prior to this one, you might have noticed me checking under the front of the van for a noise. I don't know if this was the first hint or not, but from that point to Russellville, was about 12-1400 miles.

When we parked on the campsite at R'ville, the engine bucked a couple of times and when I raised the little hood, I could smell HOT metal. The alternator was stinkin' hot and clearly going away soon. I'm thinkin' about the consequence of loosing the belt... everything powers down!

Now the debate begins: Stay until Monday and get repaired locally or try to get closer to home on Sunday as planned. We have critters and employees depending on our schedule.

Sunday morning we took our time getting ready and decided to see if the van would roll. Cranked and ran fine, with no bucking (not hot yet). We decided to try.

We ran fine for about 2 hours at rock steady speed on flat I-40. Hit a thirty-mile, one lane only construction zone that put us in a varying speed mode. Started smelling metal again. We didn't want to break down on I-40, so we got off at Biscoe, AR to parallel on State Hwy 70. That exit is where we pick up the vid. 14 miles to Brinkley (1st town of any size) with the first 6 miles= no shoulder to pull off.

Guess we needed a little salt to go with all the sweetness of our tour thus far

Please comment, y'all!

Re: TGTBT

Love the positive attitude you guys always show.

Also looks like you had a great recommendation by the p;police officer on where to get your alternator replaced.

Re: TGTBT

Glad your 'Alternator Ordeal' turned out to be less than an ordeal and more of a speed bump.

Happy trails,

Mike

Re: TGTBT

@Bronc... Sadly, there was no footage of my big ol' lip poked out, pouting and whining around on a gorgeous Sadiddy nite in a cool campground when we first discovered that the 'nater was locking up.

Guess neither one of felt like goofin' with the dang camera.

@Mike... yup, feel like we dodged a "Falling Rock" on that one

@Scotty... they'll never understand, Bro

Re: TGTBT

Another quality video.

This one pointed out a flaw in your maintenance program that you may not be aware of.

Wash the windows when you fuel up.
