60,000 km update
We've now put 60,000km on our Quadvan 4X4 conversion across 3 countries, twice. The steerinig is tight, it tracks perfectly and despite beating the hell out of it on a handful of rocky Mexican beaches, sand spits, river crossings and hundreds of miles of interior BC logging roads we've had almost no problems. Almost none anyway, other than a punctured coolant hose which blew in central Mex after rudely slamming a tope at about 80km/h. Quadvan fixed the problem on our way home - it seemed a hose had been routed askew. I had a minor problem with vibration in the front end only when accelerating on dry pavement while turning to either the left of right. It vibrated loudly but I rotated the tires last week and the sound and the vibration are now gone.
We've started packing again and early November we'll be on the road for another winter in Mex. Each time we pack to go I think that this trip wouldn't have been possible without this kick-ass van and I feel indebted to Quadvan for helping out. We'll also be stopping by Aluminess to modify our rear bumper on the way through and I'll post again after our next Mex trip to tell how the van has held up.
