I heard if it was the rear VSS sensor the tranny would act weird?

Maybe its the same thing thats causing your head lights to blink on and off....
Mine has done the same thing as Charlie stated. Fixed it the same way also. Have you varified if the ABS is truely working?

Disregard the seatbelt wire idea. You wrote "ABS" light and my mind read "Airbag" light. I don't think the seatbelt wire has a thing to do with the ABS light.

I had the ABS light go on and it was a bad sensor. The interesting thing is that for my 99' quigley the sensor was from GM not Ford. When you get it checked out inform the shop that it could be GM sensor. My shop ordered to Ford sensor and then I had them call quigley to figure out what the deal was.
If your ABS light is on for a brake problem something is up with the ABS and it may not be functioning at all.
