Agile Offroad 4x4 conversion...anyone have any experience?..

Hi all,
I am looking at a van that has the agile offroad 4x4 conversion done, and was wondering if anyone has any first hand experience with that system? I have heard nothing but great things about their shock/spring upgrade for Quigley and Quadvan, but I have not heard much about their actual conversion. They use a d50 twin traction beam setup, like older f250s and broncos, etc., so pretty different from the other typical conversions out there. The van has a lot of what I'm looking for otherwise so I'm interested in any feedback on their conversion.
thanks, jas

Re: Agile Offroad 4x4 conversion...anyone have any experienc

I have a 2003 Quadvan IFS conversion that I am guessing is close to the Agile set-up (or not ?)

The independent front suspension ride is awesome. I have owned an f350 4x4 solid axle crew cab which had such a rough ride there was no way I was going to have that in our van 4WD conversion. One drive in a QV IFS and I was sold. We chose the sport suspension options for handling - twin Bilstein front shocks, Bilstein rear shocks, steering dampener, correct traks, and rear sway bar. No lift was required and the van sits level (no nose down like stock). If lift was wanted, that was available. We chose not to lift so we could get into parking garages as well as minimizing frontal area for fuel economy reasons. Mainly, was for road snow issues, light trail, and yanking a 5,000lb trailered boat up slick ramps. We have been immensely pleased with the results over 45,000 miles of usage.

Unfortunatley, IIRC, I was advised QuadVan is not doing this style conversion anymore due to lack of parts from Ford, so Agile maybe the next best thing.

A lot depends on what your usage will REALLY be (not what one dreams it might be).

Re: Agile Offroad 4x4 conversion...anyone have any experienc

Ramsey and Glen did the conversion on our 2001 E250 GTRV and we are very pleased!

The van rides better than my stock Tundra did with the FWC slide in, and wheels very well on the desert back roads common to the intermountain west. The van drives great, far better than my previous 2 leaf sprung vans and I can recommend the system based on my drive back to SLC from El Cajon, thru Joshua tree, Death valley and a couple brief forays around Moab.

The Agile Shop is small but Ramsey was able to accommodate our schedule, also installing Aluminess Bumpers front and rear, and removing the stock grandma skirting on the body.

The lack of a front desk call taker means that Ramsey is not always available (still actively turning wrenches ) but it also means you will always be talking to the boss:-) and it keeps overhead low.

Ramsey has been very attentive to a small issue that came up with the bumper swing arms and was very reasonable in his overall pricing, even finding us a set of used rims and tires which saved us big bucks.

I bypassed the local shop here in SLC for the improved ride and would do it again.
Thanks Ramsey!

What's not to like? Helps everyone with their vans, then takes 'em wheeling through Baja.
No brainier.
