They are still doing the RIP package. My neighbor got one of the last 4x4 conversions a few months ago, but I was talking to them when I dropped off my Quigley SMB for the RIP changes and they told me the same thing about axles cited above.

I did one of the first MGMetalworks/Expovan self-installs. The quality of the kit was excellent and Michael was super helpful in answering questions. I was happy with the ride, but I moved on to a Quigley Transit for more space and a high roof.

The sad truth is there is too much money in the easy work right now.
A local company that previously installed a Webasto furnace and solar on my 2006 Sportsmobile 4x4 diesel only wants to bolt bumpers and fancy luggage racks on new trucks and SUV's at this point. The conversion companies seem to only want to deal in Sprinters and similar vans. There is so much money in it.

Sad to say but I'd have to agree. Lately they were only promoting Sprinters whom owners have deeper pockets. I still had a great experience getting my conversion done by them on my 1st ambo and sad to see them letting go of the E serie.

I've met Michael at MGmetalwork (Expovan) and he's a standup guy.

Good luck!

The Ford Econoline 4WD conversion business can't be too bad.

I understand Chris at U-Joint did over a 130 IN-HOUSE 4WD Econoline conversions in 2019. That number does not include the "Kit" sales!

Customers ship their Ford Econoline vans to U-Joint for 4WD conversion from all over the USA.

U-Joint must be doing something right!

I think there is a liability/insurance factor in here also.
I recently shopped for liability insurance for a camper van upfitting business and I was pretty shocked at the cost. Like 5 times what a similar volume sales remodeling company is.
"Custom fabrication" "suspension" or "lift" modifications, larger tires, come at a huge liability...sucks up profits and is, well, a constant liability.
