What was the problem(s)?
I don't really want to go into details, brings back bad memories.
It's over and done, and Adavanced 4WD is still there. If I were
a betting man I'd bet that I'm not the only one that was unhappy
with what they got from Advanced. Lets leave it at that. If you
want details and I can give them to you privately I will.

Re: Anyone dealt with Advanced 4WD Systems in SLC?

More good news with my van converted at Advanced.
I have between 65 and 70 thousand miles on my
conversion. Never abused the van, always serviced
it on time. Now my transfer case doesn't engage into
4x4 high or low. The lever engages but the front
driveline doesn't turn and the T case makes funny
noises in 4x4. Probably was a old worn out case to
begin with.

Re: Anyone dealt with Advanced 4WD Systems in SLC?

I have one of their conversions (1996 E350 EB Diesel) with 240+ thousand miles on it. No problems. In fact the shock rubbers are totally shot, the steering damper has no damping, the shocks are probably buggered as well. ANd it is still the best handling vehicle in our household.

The conversion geometry is spot on. The upward travel leaves a bit to be desired (only a couple of inches) so washboards suck. But for me it is not a rock crawler but more a all road touring vehicle. The fitting etc for the conversion are not up to the quality of UJoints (UJOR)stuff (but this may of changed since 1996). Turning circle is really good.

My thoughts/experience on the conversion options.
Advanced are good for getting good road manners, good turning circle and 4x4 just in case. Customer service (email and phone) can be spotty.
Quigley if you want Ford support but the turning circle and travel sort of suck.
UJOR very good quality kit but I have never driven one of their conversion, better travel and good to deal with.
SMB looks OK but I have no personal experience.

FWIW I have and Advanced Four Wheel Drive conversion 1996, I have a Quigley 1998 and I have visited UJOR to check out the kits quality and get a feel for the shop and Chris.

If I was to start from scratch I would go with UJOR and a local installer.

Re: Anyone dealt with Advanced 4WD Systems in SLC?

Advanced just converted my van (2008 6.0 RB cargo) a couple weeks ago, and I was very happy with their service. They completed things on time and ended up charging me less than I thought. The owner Randy is very nice, friendly, takes time to explain things well and was nothing but helpful.

I also had some work done by New Image Vans here in Salt Lake (Fibrine top, sofa bed, windows) and I also highly recommend them. Dang, the owner, is quite a craftsman and really knows what he's doing. They lack a good web page unfortunately, but they're quite good.
