Anyone used aerotanks for larger gas tank?

The need to shorten the gas tank for a 4x4 conversion is a real bummer especially with a v10 gasser. You need to start looking for a gas station after about 250 miles. It seems Transferflow is only available on SMB and maybe Quadvan. Has any one used www.aerotanks.com? Thanks, Stosh.

Re: Anyone used aerotanks for larger gas tank?

I think there's an old thread on this because I once posted about this, but I'll say it again:

I used them many years ago. They built a 33 gallon tank that I put into my wagoneer to replace the 20 gallon tank. They were fine to deal with.

Quadvan def. does do transferflow tanks. You can probably have transferflow themselves install one if you can get to them in CA.

Thanks. Guess I'll look into aerotanks sometime. Maybe I can find someplace here in Texas to do it, but would rather use someone that has done a lot of them. Stosh

Unless I'm mistaken Aerotank does not list one for our vans...

No, they do not list one but, as the older thread mentions, they will build a custom one.

I don't know more, just what somebody else found out and then posted. Perhaps that person could report whether or not they got the tank.

Okay, here's where Switchfoot is currently at. It did not take long to find:

Re: Anyone used aerotanks for larger gas tank?

I'm pretty sure you can only use Aerotanks if you have a diesel. Gassers must use tanks that meet a much higher crash standard, and TF actually has crash tested several E-series vans with their tanks installed.

QuadVan does install TF tanks. They can install them on older Quigleys, but I think John said something about the newer Quigley having some sort of interference (crossmember?) with the midship tanks.

QuadVan will also install a 35 or 55 gallon Ford rear tank (55 for extended vans only).

John is the man. He is the guru of all things when it comes to Ford van conversions.
