ARB Front Axle Breather

I just reread the ARB manual and saw a note regarding maintenance of the axle breathers that I had missed before. Given that we now have 24k miles on our SMB, have never touched this item and are packing for a summer trip, how urgent is its maintenance or replacement? I ran the front lockers a few days ago on a rough backcountry road and noticed it took them about ten minutes to engage (i.e., feel the steering become very stiff), if that is relevant.

Re: ARB Front Axle Breather

I've never looked at mine but both hoses are routed up to the fuel cap area. Don't know if they added a filter or not. I never figured the stock breathers had filters so I didn't think SMB added one. I'll have to check.
