ATS Fender flares... Pros/Cons?

Hello All,

I am considering a set of ATS flares for my E350. I an currently running Toyo 285/75/17 tires on factory 2006 F250 wheels. I just ordered a set of 17x9 Dick Cepek DC-1s with 4.5 BS(TireRack has them on sale for $94 each!). My van has a 2006 F350 drive train in it (like late model Quigley). Being $100 cheaper, I am considering them. Are these as nice as the Bushwackers? Are they as Roomy? Pros/cons and close up pics appreciated.
Thanks,
TurboStew

Re: ATS Fender flares... Pros/Cons?

I got them because I think they look better. I didn't even compare prices. I don't like the gasket on the Bushwackers. They are thicker and have some sort of foam core, so apparently trimming takes more work than Bushwackers.

I trimmed the van fenders (lower 8" near doors) before mounting, in case I needed more tire clearance (265/70R17). Turns out I didn't need more clearance, so I haven't trimmed the ATS fenders yet. I plan on it, just for tire chain clearance, but it's low on the priority list. With the M55 tires, I haven't needed to chain up all 4 corners yet (or even the rears for that matter).

Biggest downside for me was they wouldn't sell only the fronts. But, that's not a concern for most folks.

Thanks for the info carringb. I see you painted them. Did they come black? They look a little wider than Bushwackers. Nice van, where did you get the "Superduty" side view mirrors?

Re: ATS Fender flares... Pros/Cons?

Yes, they come black. I had them painted at MAACO along with the rest of the van. I think they are a little wider. I wanted as wide as possible, because at some point I want to put in a Dana Super60 from an F550.

I bought the mirrors online, but I don't remember the website. Google Shopping should find you the best price. THere is a thread elsewhere on this forum (Van Body?) about installing them on the pre-2003 vans.

Re: ATS Fender flares... Pros/Cons?

Well, I went to order some yesterday and just my luck, they are discontinued as of last year! So, I guess I will buy the BWs or how about Flexy Flares from here?

Anybody use these?
