Aligning themselves with the competition, namely the Sprinter. The other players in the market are going with the high-roof, world-platform style vans. GM is the holdout but you can see the trend with the Sprinter serving the HD market and the Fiat-based Promaster from Chrysler.
It isn't for lack of sales of E-Series either. But when you compare it to the Sprinter, it's old tech and like anything else on 4 wheels, safety standards, emissions and fuel economy regulations dictate a change in the architecture.

Re: Best Van for 4x4 conversion
Consider getting a Ford RB (regular) vs EB (extended) body if you are planning to do more technical trails. The EB will get hung up on things. You will lose some space. All depends on how you plan to use the vehicle. Length: RB 211.9” EB 231.9”

'We' as in U-Joint, or 'we' as in a customers? Just wondering if you're going to start building vehicles in advance of customer's orders, or if you're just building to customer spec?

We as in a customer. I would love to pre build rigs to sell but thats a chunk of $$ I don't have! Since everyone wants something a bit different we convert already owned vans or find a van that meets the needs. We are seeing more "new" purchases and I expect that to be popular until they cut us off.
