Re: Bottle Jacks and changing tires

I really had to Twist Dave's Arm !!! I alway's share my compulsions , in all seriousness it really is a great addition to your Off Road Arsenal and will work with a number of Bottle Jacks as well .

Re: Bottle Jacks and changing tires

You don't have to fear the handle. The jack functions in such a way that it can only snap up on you if you let go of it before it locks into position at the end of the downward or upward movement. Since I only weigh 170# I need a cheater bar to get full leverage on the handle. An 18" piece of pipe works fine. I've used a Hilift aka "farm jack" for various purposes for 40+ years and the basic rule is .....only when perfectly vertical, never past 2/3 of the length of the jack, make sure the lift foot has a good grip. Used horizontally it becomes a great "come-a-long". Farmers and Ranchers have used them for decades to stretch wire fencing, pull steel posts, straighten a leaning hay stack, lull out a bent fender.....you name it.

Re: Bottle Jacks and changing tires

Does anyone have a source for the 3 ton powerbuilt bottle jack mentioned in the beginning of this thread? I have tried all the on-line links and no one seems to carry it right now including O-reilly's etc locally.

I need a jack of some sort as all I have is the one that came with the stock van and it will not work.

Thanks.

Re: Bottle Jacks and changing tires

There is no tractor supply near us and it is an in store item only. They have tractor supply stores in CA but none in Oregon, Idaho, or Washington. I am in WA. Nearest store is 650 miles away in CA. That is why I was trying to find them online somewhere but no luck.

Re: Bottle Jacks and changing tires

you tried these guys with no luck:
https://www.toolsmithonline.com/product ... Jack-Stand

My buddy owns a no name parts store and he can get them but he is way over priced at 50.00
He told me they came out from Oregon...maybe you can try a local parts store and see if they can order for you.

I got mine online from Tractor Supply Co. Item# 1160455 $39.99 + 7.95 shipping.
As of today seems they still have them. I also see they have a $5 off coupon for your first order.

Awesome they were not shipping previously as it said an in store item only not available for shipping yesterday. I ordered one and thank you very much for bringing it up again.
