That little man of yours is awesome brother. I really like your family approach to business and customer service. Need to hook up with you and get some new seats.

Do high schools even offer Auto Shop, Metal Working, Wood Working like they did way-back-when I was in high school?
I don't think its just the younger generation, society as a whole seems to be much more inclined to purchase and then throw-away, rather than build or fix. Clearly however, there are definitely some significant exceptions to that observation as evidenced by WeldTecDesigns.

I think we're seeing a swing back to "making stuff," as evidenced by the "MakerSpace" movement, workshop co-ops, etc. Also, reference all the #vanlife builds all over social media and the Web.
What's cool is that people may not have these skills to begin with, but are figuring it out on their own. If younger generations aren't "making stuff" anymore, part of the fault lies with those who did not teach them these skills to begin with. Many parents spend more time taking their kids to soccer and other sports games (which is fine) than involving them in projects around the house to teach them those skills, which are arguably more useful long-term than sports. Equally important is the ability to "figure stuff out" even when you may not know how to do something mechanical (or otherwise).
I'm GenX and grew up with a contractor as a dad, and a mechanic as a grandfather, so I learned how to do stuff at an early age.

BrianW,
All good points. Definitely a bonus when pops taught us how to do handyman stuff, and gramps let ya build stuff on the farm. Nowadays though, YouTube is a good source for fixing stuff. I’ve repaired my dryer and friends dryer using YouTube. I know my parents & grandparents learned how to build stuff and fix stuff as times were tougher in the 1930’s.

Nice build. Always fun to see your projects. One of these days I'm going to get down to El Cajon and check out Weldtec in person. Maybe drool over the 6" lift parts for my E350.

Chevrolet Express 4x4 sema 2018 build
We recently did a walk through video on this build. Check it out and please let us know what you think.
This build is going to continue in 2019 and we would love to hear what you think we should add.

Lots of great high quality touches. Can’t wait to see more. I’m sure I’ll be doing a few things with you for my van in 2019.

Great build with lots of thoughtful touches and a color scheme that not only looks good, it works well for the desert. Speaking of the desert, are you going to bring the van to the Hammers race? I'd love to see it in person, and it's about time to get it a little dirty. I also really liked the fact that your camera operator focused on those things you were describing at the moment. Hopefully, we will see you in Johnson valley.
