I think its a great idea. Jage, willing to plead our case to Deavers?

I could use a $ break. Got a letter from the capitol yesterday indicating I owed $. Thought I had paid it, but that was the Fed taxes I paid (wife's fault as claimed too many deductions on her w-4). Well, quickly paid the state and that was approx half my Deavers money. Damnit.

Next time someone think of this *before* I buy something.

For comparison my Deaver's were:
$2400 springs
~$130 shipped
~$650 installed locally
~$500 for RS9000 shocks

I'll come back and refine the numbers as I come across bills at home.

Weekend is coming and I'm getting ready to camp, but I got shocks put on. Had them (RS9000s) at 5 and 5 but now front/rear is 3/5 as the front ride was a little rough.

However, the Deavers have settled a lot and the OME shocks are very soft, and one in the back was blown. The ride with the Rancho's is amazingly better than the Deavers with the OME shocks. I believe my old rears being on the overload springs helped minimize the blown shock...

Anyway off to camp and more later.

PS. I went from 55/58 psi to 65/65 and that also has helped a lot- I was using my tire pressure to compensate I guess.

Went out, did a little 4x4ing but nothing major. There is still a bit of back pushing the front, but I've yet to crank the rear shocks up to 7.

Otherwise it's great. My wife loves it now- like she said the bumps are still there, but she didn't cringe once. She drove home and the pushing wasn't bad enough to scare her, but it did happen once.

The only question is if I have enough up travel:

Didn't seem to be an issue, but I wasn't exactly doing extreme stuff.

The main issue is probably how much shock up travel do you have versus distance to the bump stops. Stopping the up travel with the shocks is a good way to have to get new ones.
Other then that, sounds like the Deaver's are a good upgrade!
I'll have to see if I can't get my wife a night job....

Yeah the shocks stop about 1/2" before the bump stop. SMB converted from a post to a bar and I'm not clear why, but the shock is ~1.5" shorter because of it- which means the options were limited.

I basically had the choice between 3" up and 3" down or 2.5" up and 4.5" down. Unfortunately the installers were convinced that I wouldn't bottom out the shocks and I haven't proved I can. Even so my next move would be to do custom work to move the mount out and up so I can do longer shocks anyway.

Tow test at 850 miles on the Deaver Springs:

Measuring from drop hitch to ground:
Full tank of gas: 16.65"
Add empty trailer tongue: 16"
Add 315lbs to empty tongue weight: 15"

Towing empty: not bad no apparent issues.

Towing M38A shell, no engine, parked more than a foot off center left to right: no issues (estimate about 200-250lbs tongue weight)

It was not a windy day and the towed vehicle was very light compared to anything else I would have on the trailer.

I still have not reached 1000 miles for "break in" and I will be trailering my own, much heavier Jeep next week and then add an update.

What's with all the photos that say "Image Missing" in your Deaver Spring Before/After photos?

(...or is it just me?)

Those are photos I don't have a match for- they're all "before" "after". I'm sure I intened to update the report... of course I've barely but 1500 miles on it since the springs.
