Did I hammer my front Diff?? 4x4 on pavement

So we had a bunch of snow and the roads are never that clear in my neighborhood so I had the van in 4x4 and left it on overnight. Without thinking, a day later I jumped in and ran an errand. I did a couple tight turns on pavement and the first turn made a small whine second one made a very loud whine. Noise was like a Whoooooooooom.



I scratched my head for a second and then took it out of 4x4. DOOOOOH.


Wondering if I hammered anything in the differential. Hoping that my stupidity didn't wreck anything. 4x4 seems to still work fine.

Doubt that scenario would hurt the front diff. That puts strain on the transfer case, not the front diff. But unless you drove for a lot of miles on dry pavement in 4wd I doubt it hurt anything.

Do you have any kind of a locker in your front axle?
If you do depending on the model there could be some potential damage there but most likely not

No lockers. Just the standard stuff from Agile which is mostly F250 parts. I forget which transfer case they used. But the front diff was rebuilt before install for 3.73 which I chose for highway cruising.

Yes. Been very good to me thus far, which is why I am sweating making it groan in 4x4 being a dummy

If you have never done it, you might change the gear oil, inspect the fluid for little bits and fill with new gear oil.
If nothing else you have done a little maintenance.

No, you shoudl be fine. they dont like that but as long as you did not over heat it you are fine.. Did you see Gear oil spew out of the Vent tube? You shoudl be fine.
