Do SMB do 4X4's for older vans ?

Hi I'm new to the forum. I've been considering a class b RV for several months and the Ford 4X4 SMB really appeals to me.
I would also like a diesel drivetrain which would mean buying a used SMB or a pre 2010 van with a diesel engine.
Question is do SMB do the 4X4 conversion on older vehicles ? I think I read somewhere that they only convert new vans ?

Probably not. That said, why not just shoot them an E-mail? If I were in your situation, I'd strongley consider a U-Joint conversion but there are others out there as well.

Low miles Peter at smb west said they would consider doing it.

Alan from SMB West replied to my email and said they could do a 2008 -2010 E350 but best to have the 4.10 limited slip rear axle.

Well good for you! Now at least you know what to look for. In the past a lot depended on their 4x4 work load which is much lower these days. As far as the rear axle, he's just probably just trying to save you a little money cause they should be able to install a full floater with those gears and even a locker if you wish.

Other option, Quadvan, they convert older vans.

My van did not come with the factory 4.10 rear axle. Conversion to 4.10 limited slip was simply an added expense.
