I believe only those with the SMB 4x4 with the Atlas II TC have an Indicator Light. The other day when I was under fixing my shift levers I notied a lead coming from the Transfer Case.

What am I, a red-headed stepchild? Why didn't I get a light? I've got the Atlas II and all. Geeszch. I know what I'm doing this weekend.

I've got the Atlas II light but it comes on when the front axle is engaged in low or high range, not truely in 4wd.

This is also how mine works - I just never had mine in front wheel only before.

I had the green led light that comes on when shifting to low and high. I found the placement by the knees not to be good. I had a red light put into by switch system that is above the visor. I think it is a better location.
here is a photo, note that the light is on the far right.

Yes, if the hubs are not locked the light still comes on when engaging high or low on the front axle only. So it's not truely a four wheel drive light. I already came close to getting winch out one time when the light fooled me. I'm not that foolish anymore (well maybe a little stupid) but I do hang a colored band around my mirror to remind me to unlock the hubs.

Well got out the test light and the "4x4" labeled wire is not hot (tried both high and low). I assume it would utilize a negative ground if wired up. Grouped with two other pre-routed wires (one for Aux A/C and can't remember the other). I'll crawl under this weekend to see if I have a switch on TC. If so, I'll wire up an idiot light.

4x4 Indicator Light
The SMB 4x4 indicator light wasn't installed in some of the earlier units. There is a sensor/switch that installs on the Atlas II that SMB can provide. Installation and wiring is straightforward.

Ed, with your permission, I'll continue this little hijack. What type of switch is it? Mounted in the TC (hopefully) or a mechanical switch using the shift levers to activate it? If mounted to the TC, on which side is it mounted? Guessing I just dont have the switch to begin with. Thanks for letting me play through.
