Quigley and Quadvan. Supposedly tx case will be from F150.

It may be 4x4 but it just doesn't appear to be an actual off road vehicle. Kind of like the all wheel drive SUVs that do better on snow and some mild rough roads.

There is a lot to be said for a larger hood and better access to the mechanical bits. It's a trade-off I'll make sooner or later, not sure if it'll be a sprinter, transit or something else. The ability to reasonably lift and put bigger tires on it will drive much of my decision.

It's certainly a unibody, but it does probably have modern traction control, which goes a very long way in keeping a vehicle moving along the path you want it it. Not sliding into ruts regularly means a lot less clearance and articulation is required. It can also mean that lifting a single tire without lockers is actually not an issue.

I'm very curious if lifts will become available for it or the 4x4 sprinter. I think I can live with a unibody, I actually want modern traction control, but I do feel like I need at least a 33" tire, though independent suspension probably means I don't even need quite that big a tire.

Yes, I'll miss the monster aspect of my van, but I'll gain a lot of safety and hopefully real world performance, even on trails. -- That said, I don't think these vans are there just yet.
