Nokian Rotiiva AT and Nokian Rotiiva AT Plus. Both come in 285/70/17 but the AT plus comes in 315/70/17. This will be my next set of tires. E rated.
315/70 R17 121S - up to 180 km/h, max load 1450 kg. http://www.nokiantyres.com/summer-tyres ... otiiva-at/
I used Nokian on my other cars and the Rotiiva on my SUV. Excellent both on dirt roads and especially good on snow and Pacific NW ice.
These will replace my current set...295/70/17 Toyo MT.
I just saw a set of Duratrac's on a truck next to me at Home Depot today. They look really great! I wonder how they compare to the Cooper AT/3s pricewise? I'll look around, I'm sure I can compare online. The AT/3s were around $200/per for 285/75/16s (33s).
Edit: Just looked on Treaddepot.com
BFG AT/K02 285/75/16 $231
GY Wrangler Duratrac 285/75/16 $228
Cooper Discoverer AT/3 (the only one warrantied at 55k) $171

Wow, the savings on a set of 5 Cooper AT/3s is $285! They are also supposed to be coming out with a better snow/ice rated version.

Their 55k warranty is what sold me. They are quiet too. I have nothing but good things to say about mine, however they are definitely NOT a mud tire, ask me how I know, and I would like something a little more agressive next go round.
Anyone know a good snow and ice tire that is also good in mud? What is good for one is horrible for the other. Having Mud Terrain tires I rather have less mud and more winter oriented tires.

I hope that is exactly what the Dura Trac will do.

The 245-75-16 E load range were $800 thru a friend local mounted balanced out the door.
I went to order them and my friend who I get my tires from (who has been on many trips with me) begged me not to get the dura tracs. He said he would save $200 on the tires by going with Revos again and put that money towards a locker. He also says the locker will increase its overall traction more than the different tires and it will still have the quite road ride the 90% of the time I use it. We debated for a while and I decided to sleep on it.
Will keep you posted
Jim
On my 01 SMB I ran the Toyo MTs that I had Les Schwab do their optional Siping on. Big improvement in the ice dept over stock MTs, and in the deeper snowy conditions I had no complaints either. Just wish they weren't so heavy and loud (and $$$). Curious how some of the newer aggressive Cooper ATs stack up. They look good
Here they are on my rims…Jon at Quadvan recommended them (he runs them on his own 4x van)…we were talking how my wife and I love to drive on the beaches of Padre, TX beach, or OuterBanks, NC, and he said they (especially) can run very low psi (12-15psi) for sand/beach driving…Look cool too…I have found them relatively quiet and smooooooth on 4-lane.

I've had 285x70x17 Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armors on mine for about two years now. They are quite (as the name implies) and are great in the snow and ice. In fact they are a "snow flake rated" tire for whatever that is worth. They have kevlar in the sidewalls which helps keep them quite and adds a bit of piece of mind when it comes to sidewall strength. They definitely aren't as aggressive as the Duratracs visually, but they don't look weak either. I chose them over the Duratracs because I wanted snow and ice traction and something pretty quite on the highway but with decent off road traction and I've been pleased. The Duratracs would be the more aggressive off road choice though.
