I'm also in the same delema of which van to start with. I will be doing 90% road driving on the east coast and cross country trips and 10% beach/sand here on Long Island. Can I get away with a Chevy AWD or do I need a true 4x4/quigley?? Thanks for any advise!

Sounds like that should be a TV show title.

What I've learned so far - the AWD full sizes are fine for less than severe off road, and ride better on road (supposedly) but are less durable/heavy duty. So if you load heavy and tow heavy, might opt for a heavier duty driveline.

That looks like one of the Oregon Lottery spec vans. S/K did a lot for a while. If it is, beware its spring heavy and would at least need some leafs pulled to ride decent.

Thanks - love the info in this place!

The front springs have already been 'adjusted' apparently. I've got 20hrs of driving to feel it out on the way home. Heh.
