here we go ! 92-E350 7.3 input

hello all,

1st post after a year + of scouting. Took the plunge & purchased a 92 E350 7.3 equipped with
a Banks Turbo Sidewinder system and a not-certain-just-yet 4X4 conversion (it has leaf springs).
It's a build project over the next few seasons and this year, Year 1, is to get it totally road worthy for UT back country & high elevation, high temp ops including some light/moderate towing. It won't be heavily loaded - 2 people, 5 dogs and a interior that will be shedding contents as a part of the 'build'. I assume the 1 ton chassis with the 7.3/Banks mod gives me what I need for power, towing & altitudes up to 10,ooo perhaps 11,ooo feet.

2 owners with a represented history of appropriate maintenance, 165k, and very little off road use. My request to you is what do you advise I check, upgrade, confirm and inspect
on the engine, tranny/transfer/drive line/undercarriage. I have a hint of info on coolant filters and have some knowledge about Amsoil 'dual' filtering of this big diesel. This IS my 1st diesel & i am up to speed on quality filters and proper cooling of the powerplant.

I'm looking for the "gotcha's" this piece of equipment may throw at me and intend to give it a thorough servicing and Inspection in anticipation of this season's outings.

Thanks for you time and I do intend to not wear out my welcome.

David

Apart from replacing all the fluids and filters from the start, read up on the Amisoil thread and verify your lines are correct. I'd get new batteries and XPD fuel treatment (or something)... I only recently discovered diesel treatments and should have been using them earlier.
