Death wobble will shear almost anything in front of the trans like engine mounts. Contact Peter DelToro to order a Fox steering stabilizer. My rig had over 250,000 miles on it when I experienced the first death wobble. Ordered the Fox steering stabilizer/dampener the next day. Anyone driving one of these vans or any rig that is modified and equipped with oversize tires should ask for a steering stabilizer for Christmas. The damage and possible loss of control will be much more expensive. Easy to install and can be done in the dirt without a jack. Use a 1/2 inch drive and 18" breaker bar.
Death wobble can primarily occur when there is steering geometry issue, or when there are worn or loose steering related items. A steering stabilizer does not fix anything, it just hides the issue. A steering stabilizer can smooth out steering inputs due to road conditions, but if you have death wobble, take the time to diagnose and correct the underlying cause.
