Re: Interior Suggestion for Basic Camper Build

I like the idea of getting a folding seat and using part of that. I wonder if they make ones that bolt into the stock Ford bases.
I will have to check out Sheriffdoug's thread, thanks for the info.

This was my bed plan for little bit before I changed my mind.
Basically a diy version of sheriffdoug's check out his engine rebuild thread it's on the first page.

Sounds like some good ideas, do you have any photos of this? Thanks again.

Those teak rails worked great and I still miss them sometimes. We stored 4 bikes in the van with the front of the bikes mounted on bike tights on a 2x4 that went from one side of the van to the other about 16" above the floor. We slept on the floor with our feet under the front of the bikes and our heads toward the front of the van. Took some moving around at night, putting some totes in the front seats, but we stayed in it for 4 months straight once touring the west. Carried bike gear, back packs, climbing junk, etc. During the day, the totes went under the front of the bikes where our feet were while sleeping.

Edit: Forgot to mention that we had 4 captains chairs in the van when at home, but removed them when traveling.

Re: Interior Suggestion for Basic Camper Build

I did some google research and came up with some decent builds I combined into one image. I really like the one with the kitchen table but not sure I have enough room for that unless I pulled out the bench seat (and skills to build). The larger bench/ bed on one side that flips over to connect to a smaller bench to create a removable platform bed could be a good idea. I can have storage underneath and flip it up if I am alone or need to use the van for hauling.

I bought the netting from http://www.organizedobie.com/categories ... nization/2
I used nylon kayak hooks for the netting. The cheapest place I found for the hooks was on eBay.

It's hard to say but I think it's equivalent to a standard double width. I bought 4 pieces of high density foam that were each about 2.5 inches thick. Then I used upholstery adhesive to join 2 of them together to make 2, five inch thick mattresses. I had to trim the ends to get them to custom fit the platform. I'm 5'9" and just fit sleeping crossways. The foam pieces were $20 a piece, so I'm only into to it for $80 total.

That is a tight fit I like the use of the 1x2 rails, great idea. It is hard to pack everything in a van in an orderly fashion.
