Is there a need for a diy 4x4 Kit on ford vans?

I encourage you to do what you can do to get a kit going but the real need is in Mercedes and Transit vans.
Just curious DIY, having fabbed up my own kit back in 2004! I was wondering why you relocated the Shock to the coil spring mount center area as opposed to removing the entire bracket and making a stand alone upper shock mount bracket? If you are set on using it you would be able to offer dual front shocks. You can use original shock mount hole and add a side step down lower shock mount welded to your spring plate off the side of the spring plate! Just an observation.

I hear ya - it’s a big task to remove the shock towers. I’m putting together a basic diy kit , I’m attempting to make as simple as possible. Dual shocks kit definitely in the works

One more thing, I did Chevy 2wd to 4wd back a few years. It was a 14 bolt and I did not like the square over axle u bolts hanging down like rock fishing hooks. I had Deaver Springs roll me some new u bolts. I took measurements and made spring plates out of 1/4" plate and had both ends bent up at 10*or 15*. It just looks better you may want to consider ordering a couple dozen. Just my quality control input!

My dislike for square u-bolts, and wanting more clearance between the axle and frame rails, and to make room for a different snubber, drove me to a completely different plate design.



Shown here before final welding, two stacked plates, top plate with hex shaped holes (to nest the bolt heads, anti-rotation) and the lower with through holes. I keyed the shock tabs into both for a strong assembly, welded top and bottom plates along their edge. Probably a lot more work than most people want to do, but I was only doing this once
