I stand corrected.

Personally, I really dislike the business model of "9/10 installs go well, the 10th guy can suck it" and believe BMWBILO's experience was bad, and respect that he doesn't just want to publicly lambast Advanced. Bad is probably putting it lightly, but I really believe that 1/10 experience is something a business should pay for in future sales.

If 9 more people came forward with "Advanced is great!" I'd still probably lend more weight to BMWBILO's experience and not do business with them, however that's a personal choice and not right or wrong, unlike Rick Parry.

In this day & age, it only takes one bad experience to do significant damage. There are more negative stories out there, but only a few have the guts to stand up & fight back.

Agree, but I've also seen more damage done to a company's reputation by back and forth finger pointing, than by the original accusation. Many times it's a no win situation for the company in question, though I would always like to see both sides of any disagreement and come to my own conclusions.

I can only imagine how hard it would be to stay professional and just present the facts when someone questions your business practices and your integrity.

I can only imagine how hard it would be to stay calm and just present the facts when a van owner feels taken advantage of, and your once-in-a-lifetime vehicle is less than you expected.

I feel very content in my SMB experiences, and I don't take that for granted.

Re: It's time to add 4x4 to Betty

I don't know anything about Advanced but I have worked with several small businesses as we build our van. IMHO, Nobody is getting rich making van conversions, 4x4 conversions, or anything related to vans. The market is small and fickle. Everything is custom.

There has to be some other reason why people do van stuff. They are quirky, a little insane, and they just think vans are cool! So it stands to reason that their business practices won't be designed by an MBA with plenty of market research, they won't hire public relations firms to do customer satisfaction surveys, and they will have their own illogical way of deciding warranty claims.

If they were rational they wouldn't be in the van conversion business.

So, what does that say for van conversion owners?

I going to ask if you want to reply with your experience please do it in a PM,

I don't really want to be the starter of a thread that is hateful no matter what the reason or facts are.

I am sorry for any bad experience some of you may have had and I would really like to hear about it, but it seems keeping it between me and whom ever had the experience would be best.

I will say I went by Advanced Monday and spoke with Randy no opinion on him, but they had 6 chevy vans converted and one in the middle. so that was a plus for me.

I also have been talking to Boulder conversions they are really making me feel warm and fuzzy I might be going there for this job.

I haven't heard anything bad about them yet.

I'm excited to see the outcome, regardless of where you end up going. The D-max Chevy is such a cool platform to start with! I'll be looking forward to the compare and contrast between this rig and the Ford's you've had.

Any timeline established? Are you hoping to get it done before the snow really flies?
