Largest tire size on Quigley conversion? MT tire thoughts?

Saw the previous post about larger tires on a SMB 4x4 but I'm curious about the fit on a Quigley setup since it is very different than the SMB conversion.

I'm starting to research a fresh set of shoes for the rig. Currently has the 285/75 16 BFG AT's on the 16x8 polished rims that SMB specs.

I'm thinking of perhaps going up to a 315/75 16 for a bit of additional cush. I live about 2-3 miles up a dirt road that usually has a fair amount of washboard.

Will the larger size fit with the Quigley conversion? I don't know if SMB did any sort of trimming/mods when it was built, rather not pull off the Bushwackers to see. Or, is there a way to visually check/measure?

Lastly, if i'm looking to run a MT tire, any thoughts on BFG MT's vs Toyo MT's and the Goodyear MTRs. Anyone have any real world experience w/ either of the above tires?

Came across this Quigley conversion on
44" TSLs.

Buji, I believe the gauntlet has been thrown down.

The snorkel is a nice touch too, but put's the van over the top IMO.

SMB-less as of 02/04/2012. Our savings account is richer, but our adventures are poorer.

I read the build up thread about the van above. The owner did most of the mods himself. The van is for sale and is located in Alaska, so an adventure goes along with picking it up.

On a recent trip to Quigley (Oct.) we noted that they were now using 17" wheels to accomodate the 14" rotors on the F350 axles used in the newer conversions. Not sure if all the sizes are available for 17" rims compared to 16".
