Re: quigley hub question....

Old thread but I have some simple questions:

Is it a good idea/practice to lock the front hubs from time to time? And what exactly happens when the front hubs are locked only? Things get lubricated right?

I memory fades me but we use to do this on my 83 Toy pickup with solid front axle. My later 4x4 vehicles were all auto hubs.

Thanks for your insights,
Ray

Re: quigley hub question....

Ray, good questions. I have been thinking of the same ones since I got this 95 SMB. I've never had a manual lock 4WD. I also wonder if it will matter much to the 460 (MPG wise) if I leave mine locked on occasion. Nothing else changes the MPG on that motor, not even a 8k trailer really, I can't see there being much of a difference.
