rear leaf spring specifications

Does anyone know what spring capacity I should get for my EB SMB 4x4. I see lots of posts but nobody really seems to give the skinny on the spring capacity in pounds.

My springs are SHOT. I need to geta new set.

Re: rear leaf spring specifications

Get the van weighed and go from there. With all of our additions, thats the best way to do it so a spring can be made to those specs.

Re: rear leaf spring specifications

I weighed in at 9000 lbs fully loaded with kids (or idiots aka friends) and gear. Sometimes I haul a 25 foot enclosed race car trailer.

Re: rear leaf spring specifications

Yes, but how much weight is on the front and how much weight is on the rear?

Re: rear leaf spring specifications

I guess i have to go back to the truck stop. Let's say it is 5000 on the back. What would I need? Is there a general rule?

Re: rear leaf spring specifications

There is no general rule. Take your weight and the ride height you want to a spring shop and they can make springs to fit.

Or, you can get some junkyard springs and add/swap leaves until you are happy with the results. I've done both. Swapping leaves is cheaper. Having a spring made is easier.
