Why weld, when you can machine, right Jeffrey?

I just had my bumper refinished by Aluminess and was told the rear portion of the frame would have to be reinforced to add shackles. I was kind of talked out of it.

Charlie did you have to make changes and what did it cost? Maybe the 08's are different.

I had also planned to have them add a couple 1x5 inch slits so I could add LED tail lights but forgot to request it.

You can purchase a D Ring shackle which fits in the receiver hitch for about $15 from 4WD shops such as 4 Wheel Parts(http://tinyurl.com/6kryzz). As Jeffrey mentions, this point should be strong enough for about anything..

I just ordered the rear bumper with the shackles so Aluminess included the reinforcement. (Idea came reading the Badger's webpage.) Additional cost was $175
