^^^ agree. Imparitive you do your own research regardless of what you read anywhere.

There's one fact though, 16" tires are cheaper across the board from every brand. Most wheels follow suit.

I agree with that fact. I think my setup would have been a couple hundred cheaper had I stayed at 16.

Hey shenrie, do you know what backspacing you're running on yours?
If I had an excuse to drive to Sacramento I'd be all over them.

@Flux why did you increase your rim size? Just a difference in ride?
I'm think I'm leaning towards a 16x8 for cost and simplicity, but I'm open to anything.
My buddy swear by his 18s and I do like the ride of the 20s on my old mans truck.

Thanks for the compliments as well! Coming from a Tacoma it feels good to be riding a little higher.

I just went shopping for wheels/tires today. I have to get the 17" wheels because my axles are the newer 8x170 lug pattern. Also, I'm having fender rubbing issues right now with a -12 offset. New wheels with a 0 or +6 offset very much narrow the field. Not much to choose from. The Toyo M/T tires I want are $100 more each for the 17" size.

I can't remember every reason on why I eventually went to 17 and as pointed out before, some of them might not actually apply. I think I looked at every darn wheel and tire out there. One reason was for brake upgrades, but I have big brakes on my 2013 so that is somewhat moot. I did see some rims not available in 16 and certain tire models that had no 16" E range. But that was somewhat few and far between. I recall seeing a couple Nitto Tires that had no 16" option Like the Ridge Grappler and their G2.

Most standard stuff like big name AT's and big wheel companies have plenty of 16" stuff. So I retract my previous silly statement about tire companies not having options for 16".

just a note, because im not sure across the lineup of axles, but just cause you have the 8x170 bolt pattern doesnt mean you cant run 16's. some of the 99-04 excursions and f series vehicles have 16" wheels. i have a 03 fseries front end on my van and could have run 16's, but the 05 rear axle is what caused me to have to go to 17" wheels.

My brakes are too big to fit inside a 16" wheel. They barely fit in the 17".
