Shift on the Fly - NV271

As I'm doing more research, I haven't been able figure out whether the NV271 transfer case that U-Joint uses enables shift on the fly, or if you need to stop the vehicle first. And I guess I have the same question for the other major 4x4 conversions - Quadvan, Quigley, etc.

At least one resource online seems to indicate that for quadvan, you can shift out of 4WD Hi while moving, but you basically need to come to a complete stop to shift from 2WD to 4WD. This is my first foray into "proper" 4x4 vehicles, so maybe this is basic knowledge.

Shift on the fly from 2wd to 4HI. You have to stop to shift to 2LO

If you want more info on this subject use YouTube. How it works videos are great resources.
