smooth ride

I have ridden in a Leaf spring Rig and I did not like the ride so I totally rebuilt the Quigley front suspension now it rides and hands like a dream. So smooth.

Re: smooth ride

My Dana 50 Twin Traction Beam, coil sprung system has 12 inches of travel, FOX Shox and rides better than in did when 2 Wheel Drive - I'm very happy with it.

Coils are the way to go.

Re: smooth ride

Please tell how you got 12 inches of travel from coils? I'm guessing it's not a Quigley, I think I max out at around 1.5 inches....

What leaf spring setup was it? SMB? S/K? Advanced? Ujoint?

1.5" yes, but that is up. You probably have another 2" of down travel for a total of almost 4".

Mine is a S-K coil spring conversion and I had to add 2" of spacer under the spring seat to gain enough up travel to make the comfortable on any less than smooth roads (all roads in the US).

I’d like to know also, the proper leaf setup will give you a GREAT ride with no body roll.

Well that was subtle Possible his rig is not the typical 9000 pound SMB???
Maybe BajaSportsmobile can shoot us some pics of his setup he is talking about.

Re: smooth ride

Nowhere did he say it was a van, or even a Ford.

I'm guessing it is one of his Baja racers.
