Speedo adjustment Ford E350 2010..2014

Has anybody ever successfully managed to adjust the speedometer on vehicles from 2010 or later?
It is known to be much more difficult on newer Vans to adjust the speedometer since the relevant signals are not coming from one source. It's coming from the ABS sensors, and may be more.
I'm struggling with this problem quite a while now. My impression is there is just one possibility left to do the adjustment and that is getting a custom tune for a SCT X4 tuner or similar.
I got a custom tune from a German Ford dealer but it does not work. Now going to get one from 5Star tuning hoping it will work.

Even 5 Star cannot guarantee that their tune will do the job.

So please give your experience, knowledge, etc.
Would we have any chance of fixing the speedo problem another way? Some plan B?

I know there has been a thread regarding speedometer adjustment, but here I'd like to focus on 2010 and newer Vans.

Cheers, Martin

Unfortunately I'm no help with the Speedo issue, but if you have reached out to 5-Star for tunes, I would also inquire about having them include "engaging the fan earlier" with your tunes. These Van have heat management issues, and they adjusted mine on all three tunes - has worked out great.
It doesn't come into play often, but when you're on a long uphill grade this helps keep the temps under control. Also found it very beneficial when traveling slow and in 4low, simply because you're not moving fast enough to push enough air through the front grill for the radiator.
Just something to think about.

Alternative to custome tune programming

I received a 5Star tune and tested. Currently all tests fail with an error code during tun install.

May be someone has got an idea howto fix the speedometer issue without programming on a 2014 E350 ???

Send a message via Yahoo to JWA
Not sure it would be helpful but the free Ford program known as FORScan might be an alternative.

I'm assuming you have verified power to the DLC or "obd-II connector" just under the steering column?

I have the same issue with my 2008....... I think the change is 2008+.....

It's been a few years since I researched but I also recall the ABS module is involved.

Can a dealer tool (ForScan??) change the differential ratio that the senors expect? seems like that that could get things closer.

I have 373 gearing and 285/70-17s and my speedo is off by about 10%

373/410=.909...........pretty close

@JWA Man of course is there power to the OBD II otherwise the SCT X4 tuner would not even start.

@boywonder so you stil have got the problem?

10% off is what I assume to happen going from 265/75/16 to 285/75/16.
Currentl its 7% off.

Forscan is not a dealer tool. I know this tool very well. But there is no chance for my Van to adjust tire size with Forscan.

Changing gear ratio or modifying the diff speed sensor signal will not help.
This is what I first saw as plan B. But since the speed signal are taken directly form the wheels (ABS sensors) the diff ratio has got no influence to the resulting speedometer signal.

I need it to be homologated according to German rules ;-( that's the key problem.

This post from the Ford Transit Forum maybe helpful (although I suspect that you are already familiar with it). Our van has 245/70R17 tires and is 9% off with respect to speed and mileage by circumference measurement and GPS tracking. I’ve not pulled the trigger on an OBD II connector as my knowledge of the FORScan app is not where I want it to be before I start messing with my system configurations. But soon ....

Yes...speedo indicates 40mph..actual 44mph

50 indicated ......55 actual

60 indicated .......66 actual

Can you mount a set of cheap 225/75 tires to get through inspection?
