What solution did you use to get your side door to clear the tire?

At 2010, Bushwacker was making fender flares for both swing open side doors & the sliding door.
My sliding door flare is considerably narrower than the drivers side, looking from the rear, allowing the needed clearance.
I understand the sliding door flares have been discontinued.
Thats how it fits.

I'm aware of the narrower Bushwacker Flare for sliding doors, but was really more interested in how the door clears the tire. I've never seen a stock slider clear a tire as big as yours.

You also have an F250/350 SuperDuty front axle with 8 on 170mm metric wheel pattern which would suggest a wheel adapter on the rear axle to convert it from 8 on 6.5" to match and that would make it even wider in the rear.

Does the door hit the tire before fully opening or has the door mechanism been modified? QuadVan offers a modified door mechanism, perhaps you have one.

This is a common problem that prevents people with sliding side doors to use bigger tires and I am wondering what solution your van has.

Six years after my van build details are a little foggy. Yes I have 2" spacers at the rear wheels. I think I have the door extension also, but I am not positive on that as I don't remember the stock configuration.
With my door slid all the way back and locked in I have 1/2 - 3/4" of clearance
to the flare.

We love our slider door, and it has been beneficial many times where we could not have opened swing doors. It works to our layout also.
Funny thing, we have never/not yet seen another 4x4 van with a sliding side door.

Well, it only makes sense then that you have the QuadVan modification.

FYI I have an MG modified slider door extension on my 4x4 van. Have the 2 inch spacers on the rear axle and the door clears no problem with the stock size small tires.

Love this thread. The sheer number of possible permutations continues to fuel the conversation. Ramsey, those Method Hole Wheels combined with the BFG AT/KO2 look like they belong on the next Mars Rover! Great combo... Is there an image of the whole van wearing those shoes?

I'll add to the string of Method wheels... just picked these up for our van this week



Wheels: Method Race Wheels "Standard", 18x9, -12mm offset, machined finish

Tires: Toyo Open Country R/T size LT285/75R18 (34.8" tall x 11" wide)

Why 6? I'm designing a rear bumper with multi-use swing arms so to showcase its ability to hold two spares, I got two extra tires/wheels.
