Tire deflator kit/tool and inflator gun with gauge

I'm a noob when it comes to off roading and learned the hard way this past weekend. Took forever to air down and air back up.

I have an onboard air compressor. Just looking to complement it with some handy tools.

Looking for convenience and reliability.

Which deflator and inflator with gauge tools do you take with you on trails?

I use Staun set adjusted to 40PSI. If I need to go lower I have straight through models and just count. I have a ARB inflator/deflator/gauge as well. I want to lock on to the valve while airing up for sure.
I would love to get one of those small CO2 tanks for a backup.

I also have the Staun set. It comes with four deflators; I have two set at 25 lbs and two set at 20 lbs. 25 lbs ones are colored blue and the 20 lbs ones are red.

I air down to 25 lbs once I hit the dirt for an extended trip - did several hundred miles in Baja last week that way. On the beach I air down to 20 psi.

If I'm back on the asphalt aired down to 25 lbs I don't really worry about it but keep the speeds down around 60 mph, at 20 psi I just cruise 35 to 40 mph until I air back up.

Last week I got into one of my favorite camping spots just south of San Felipe without airing down, getting out didn't go so well - buried it to the front and rear hub on one side and was sliding down the hill off the main line in deep sand.

I aired all four down to 20 psi, was able to back up a few feet and then "rocked" my way out until I was moving and didn't let off until we hit Terra Firma.

The Stauns cost around $60.00 but sure make it easy and fast.

I use a ARB inflator/guage. It clips onto the valve so you don't need to constantly hold it on.

Trailhead 20-40 psi deflators, have them set to 25 PSI. Staun's are also excellent.

I'm really happy with a Milton S506 inflator. Might be overkill for carrying on the road.

I use a valve stem tool to deflate. Not sure that doing it that way is for everyone.

True, but it's the fastest. I use a Currie Deflator, which does just that. Built in gauge. It's really fast and pretty easy to use once you know how.

Just remember to set the Staun's to the pressure you want. Sometimes you do need to back them off the valve stem to get them started, but they're a great time saver and keep you from accidentally over-deflating a tire.
