To Block or Not To Block

Hi All,
I have looked all over the interweb and can't seem to find a solid answer. It seems 50/50. Is it a bad idea to to use 4-5" blocks on the rear axle temporally for a 6" suspension upgrade? It would be for about a year until I could save for a new set of springs. I know that axle wrap is a concern but how much? I tow 6000 lbs with a 5.4. The axle would have 4.56's on 35"s. Any recommendations are welcome.
Cheers
Darryl

Personally I wouldn't.
Because if things broke you'd be spending more on towing and repairs then the springs.

How about a shackle flip?

I'd be more wary of spending money and labor (or DIY time) on an interim state, than of 4" blocks.

+2

Additionally ---
A rear lift, especially with the extra chassis dynamics and load/torque forces experienced by the rear axle/springs while towing.....this doesn't seem like the place to do anything that's "only half-way to the proper solution" either. JHMO!

By the way --- just reading up about the shackle flip approach to suspension lifting. Seems like a lot of off-road/Jeep/rock-crawler guys really dig it! But I'm also reading some cautions about using it on a vehicle you tow with....not sure exactly what the force-diagrams would indicate, but you are indeed changing the rear shackle from acting as a tension structure to a compression structure.

Not a completely compression structure as the tension portion of the forces would increase as the shackle passes vertical while the spring load increases.

Thanks for the responses. It has confirmed what my gut was telling me. No blocks for me. New springs it will be.
Cheers

The atlas springs from Ujoint are less than half the price of Deaver springs. Get them.

blocks aren't the ideal solution, but they work fine. i am using ones with loops for the u-bolts to pass though, so no chance of them coming loose.
