Transfer Case Clearance and Transmission Angle

I'm wondering if anyone has had issues with T-Case clearance with the body?

How much angle did you set the transmission at so the T-case clears the body well? I'm getting a bit of chatter from the T-case top hitting the body, but I don't want to space it TOO much because the engine mounts could be at a detrimental angle...

Is it preferable to hammer the body a bit so it clears, or to angle the transmission so the t-case doesn't hit?

You can do either... clearance the body or drop the rear of the trans down a little. Shoot for ~1" of clearance between the tcase and body. I gotten away with as little as 1/2" of clearance (Cummins van has some tight spots of ~1/2" and no issues).

Will dropping the transmission affect the engine mounts?

For the amount of clearance you need, it won't be a problem.

Just throwing this out there and I'm NOT an expert or mechanic -- could you grind the frame down a bit for some clearance without ruining the integrity of anything ?
An valid option ? Just asking ---

The amount of grinding needed would be quite severe. Hammering the body or dropping the transmission is a bit better, there's no material removal.
