Transfer Flow 46-gallon fuel tank and 6.0 diesel question

A favor to ask - can anyone with one of these in a van with the 6.0 liter Powerstroke diesel engine snap a photo of the bottom of the tank and post or email it to me?

My Craigslist score may be a bust. I just bought one of these tanks out of a totaled SMB thinking it would fit, but what I'm finding is the older 7.3 liter diesel and the newer 6.0 use different fuel tanks. Go figure...

I may be posting a tank for sale here right quick...

Re: Transfer Flow 46-gallon fuel tank and 6.0 diesel question

I thin the tank will do the job but you might need to modify the intake, air vents, etc...
I have a 2003 model on my 2009

As I have some issues with it ( as other already posted, overflowing diesel when filling), I went by Transferflow to ask about them and they said that some times there is just a bolt change and it is a different reference.
What they also told, because I have a 2003 model on mine, that it was not designed for the 6.0 and that's why I have the issues.
They designed a special one for SMB and you can only buy it from SMB...

IMO it is only the diameter of the vents, infill or angles that where changed.

And sorry, I can not take a picture of mine as I am 7000 miles away...

I am on the road and away from McBeast, but there should be a photo in my gallery. If you want something more specific please drop me a note.

Re: Transfer Flow 46-gallon fuel tank and 6.0 diesel question

Thanks for the responses! Andrew - the date of tank manufacture is not as important as what year van it was intended to fit. The 6.0 was introduced mid-year 2003. My tank was made in 2005 but says it fits vans from 1997-2003. Silly me thought that there wasn't really any significant changes to the van from 2003 to 2007 this tank should be good.

Greg - I scanned your gallery (nice pics by the way) and didn't find any of the fuel tank. There are some of the rear brakes, rear battery and underfloor storage though.

Heber at SMB West says the two tanks are critically different and TransferFlow was less than helpful. The sales guy wouldn't acknowledge that they make a tank for a post 2003 van.

Thanks SDwindandsea. My tank definitely looks different and has another model number. Not looking good at this point.

Re: Transfer Flow 46-gallon fuel tank and 6.0 diesel question

I've been chasing down trying to get one of these tanks, but just hit dead ends.
What I have managed to find is the following

46 gallons Diesel - 1997-03 080-01-11778 Fits 4 x 4 Ford E-vans with a Quigley conversion
46 gallons Gas - 1997-03 080-01-11872 Fits 4 x 4 Ford E-vans with a Quigley conversion
46 gallons - - 080-01-12873 Fits 4 x 4 Ford E-vans with a Sportsmobile conversion

The SMB one is not compatible with Quigley conversions according to SMB, but I'm not sure about the other way round. Gas and Diesel for Quigley conversions are not interchangeable either.
