What are the best snow tires for my 4x4 E-350 Diesel?
I just bought a 2005 E-350 Diesel Sportmobile used. I drove it back to Nevada (Tahoe area) from Colorado. The tires on this Sportmobile are huge (35x12.50R 18LT) and handle horribly in snow. I was told to get some thinner tires and soft ones, like the Cooper snow tires. I was also told to get a 16 inch tire instead of the 18 inchers which is fine with me since there are very few 18" snow tires.
Does anyone have a suggestion for a GREAT snow tire?

With 285/70 17E Nitto Terra Grapplers, I had NO problems what so ever in the worst snow Big Bear saw in ten years. And better load ratings than the BFG's. No chains required. Very solid traction during acceleration, braking and turns.

I put Toyo Open Country Muds on the van and Nittos Terra Grapplers on the F250 and the nittos seem to track worse on the highway and are also softer (you can kick the tire and it will deflect and bounce around) despite being both E. I haven't had either out in the snow however, so perhaps it's not relevant.
