Wheel Offset After Conversion

I recently spoke with a rep from Quadvan, an outfit (if you don't know of them) that performs 4x van conversions in OR.

He said that in order to retain the warranty they offer after the conversion, one needs to run the stock ford offset on the wheels. They recommend stock SD rims.

I know their conversion consists of an installation of F series SD components.

I was told different wheel offsets can result in premature wear on bearings, tie rods, etc.

Does anyone have any comment?

Re: Wheel Offset After Conversion

There are plenty of aftermarket wheels available with the correct offset.

Re: Wheel Offset After Conversion

Backspacing is a little more important, and sometimes confused with offset. A late model SD wheel is usually in the 5"+ backspacing. As long as you don't go less than 4" you'll be fine. It's a catch 22...... you gain stability & turning radius with less backspacing, but MAY wear some front end components a little quicker. I wouldn't be concerned with a one ton axle & a normal tire size.

So I would recommend to stay in the 4-4.5" range for backspacing.
