Bluetec Preventative Maintenace

This blog article goes through some of the issues with the Bluetec emissions equipment. Unfortunately, the guy want $200 paypal'd to him to provide the actual maintenance items that should be performed to ensure longevity of the emissions system. Ouch!

Mercedes-Benz & Sprinter OM642 BlueTec Diesel Issues/Problems | Stephens Service Center - Sacramento's Best Mercedes-Benz Service & Repairs

anyone know what these might be?

I think one thing is that he recommends 15w30 oil vs the 5w30 that mbz recommends?

I also noticed in the mbz warranty document that the emissions equipment in a lot of states are covered much longer than the standard 3 year 36k mile warranty. i think it was up to 100K miles? Which not so suprisingly is when these vans seem to start needing the really expensive repairs.

What are you doing to your van as far as maintenance goes that is above and beyond recommended by MBZ to ensure that longevity of the emissions equipment?

Did you ever get any fact-bases input in your question? I was about to post the same question, specifically what is the best plan for preventative maintenance, especially with fluids and preventing emissions and engine issues. I exchanged emails with Tom, who you referenced, but am hoping the collective knowledge of the community will have some advice.
