When we were looking at tear drops, the outdoor shower was obviously the only option. In theory, we thought it would be fine, but the reality was, many of the higher-alpine places we visit are dusty, windy, stormy, and we plan on parking at TH's a lot for backcountry skiing. So, an indoor shower quickly shot up the importance list. Quite a few larger overland campers use the in-floor shower setup that SMB has as an option. The curtain and hose fold up into the basin, so when it's not in use, you don't even see it. We're strongly leaning towards a high roof rather than pop top, and the small full-bathroom that have is likely what we'll go with since we don't need as much storage space as most people. But, that in-floor shower idea seems like a no-brainer to us since it takes up no additional space, but affords you the privacy and ability to shower - regardless of what the weather is doing outside.

We're in the planning stages for a sprinter 4x4, both for long-distance travel, and for weekend getaways (we're in DT Denver). We don't want to deal with propane, so that left diesel as a cooktop and heater source. Then, we really thought about how we would cook, and realized that a regular 110v induction cooktop would be more than enough. It's small enough to fit in a silverware drawer and saves on counter space. It's rare that we have two pots going at the same time at home, let alone while camping.

We're planning on the the second battery option from MB to provide enough power to run the diesel block heater, and 2 batteries for the back - roughly 400 aH. That should provide enough power to run the 12v induction stove, and if worse comes to worse, we just crank up the engine to run as a generator.

Hey WPants, Sounds like we are looking at similar setups. Hoping to have ours done by the time the snow flies up here, so we'll be getting a winter season in first, and then trying out the summer routine this time next year.

Nice! What did you end up doing for a build?

Its gonna be a 150s with a penthouse. 1 induction burner, microwave, portapotti, outside shower. Gonna do front seat swivels, and otherwise keep it as simple as possible. It'll be empty of water in the winter. Our van should be somewhere between Germany and the US right now. Should be able to pick it up by early October in Austin.

Shower ideas

We have PH non 4wd 2015 with Esbar. It has a rear outdoor shower that we never use for several reasons. The hose is WAY too short to be usable and it is proprietary and English so nothing else will lock into the fitting. I did try adding several feet but the connections always leak. The set up from SMB comes with way too much pressure and it is either full on or full off, no easy way to control temp etc and to not waste water. It was a mistake IMO. We have also used the sink out the side of the slider with some success but again, the hose is limiting although you can at least easily stop the flow while showering. Our latest and perhaps best solution is a NEMO pressurized shower. We turn on the Esbar, fill the thing with hot water, use the built in foot pump to get pressure and you are good to go, 2 showers with about 2 gallons of water. It is compact and easy to use. The best place is on the floor right next to the slider door so you have some gravity feed help. We also have a weird pop up tent thing that is like those window screen things that we use when people are near. I would say save yourself a ton of hassle and money and go the NEMO route. $100 at REI--have had zero issues, it doesn't leak, is easy to store and use, etc. You can also use the sink hose if it is near the slider door. As long as I have warm water I can endure cold temps outside to shower whenever.
