Diesel Gas Mileage with larger wheels

HI All,
Should I expect a noticeable mileage drop if I upgrade from 245 to to either 265 or 275 bfgoodrich's?

I think normally I would definitely expect a drop but was searching through the forum here or maybe somewhere else where someone was mentioning they saw no drop at all.

you'd lose 1 to 2 MPG may be. Also depends on how it's driven and current gearing. On the Highway with constant speed and leveled road the difference will be lower.

Also diesel is diesel..... no such thing as diesel gas!

Diesel is fuel, not diesel, diesel

thanks, i meant gas mileage, not diesel gas. should have said fuel economy?

was using the general term gas mileage in the broader sense of fuel economy. but yeah.

I have 33s and the Quigley 4x4 with a bit more lift from the RIP kit. I usually get from 14-16.

Didn't realize there was a Quigley 4x4 conversion sprinters. 14-16 is pretty good running 33s.

Sorry. I assumed incorrectly you were talking about an e350.

I don’t think it was ever specified that it was a Sprinter. In fact I almost asked when it was originally posted. A 6.0 or 7.3 with the torque they can make would different greatly in percentage loss over a Sprinter. There’s some voodoo nuance between torque, weight, height, and rpms at work.

A stock Sprinter runs 245/75/16's, diameter 30.5", gear ratio 3.92.

265/70/17 BFG T/A KO2's, diameter 31.7", gear ratio 3.77
275/70/17 BFG T/A KO2's, diameter 32.2", gear ratio 3.70
285/70/17 BFG T/A KO2's, diameter 32.8", gear ratio 3.62

Minimal mileage drop, minimal impact with the 265's or 275's. I run 265's on my fully built out van and average right around 16 mpg. I am considering moving up to 285's for my next set of tires.

Don't forget to consider weight in this discussion, it will have a very real impact.

Yeah, I didn't mention what I had because we are in the Sprinter sub-forum
