Double fuses?

I noticed tonight while becoming acquainted with the fuse box in the left side of the driver’s footwell that there are two fuse locations with wires attached to a permanent fuse with two fuses next to each other inserted on the front.

Anybody know why of how this works?

That’s the one! There are two I see. I was thinking maybe the function of the fuse is so critical that they have them daisychained in case one blows there’s another one in the path?

Ok so it looks like these are called expandable circuits and I wonder if they support some part of the SMB buildout.

That sounds like a tap a fuse. One of the fuses protects the OEM circuit and the other fuse protects the wire coming off the device. It's a cheap and lazy way to add a circuit for something. It could be a radio, off road lights, or other things.

Thanks everybody, that makes perfect sense to me. There are a number of aftermarket items on the van including Rigid LEDs mounted on the back of the penthouse, a back up sensor, and an aftermarket alarm system.
