Most of the info you need is here, http://www.ourexcellentadventures.co...ons[1].pdf

PS. That truck and trailer belonged to my mom. I got this note from her yesterday.

Re: Dually Rear End Sprinters ...

Brian,

I loaded the van today and took it to the public scale and had it weighed. I had a full diesel tank, full water tank, empty gray water tanks and the propane tank was about a half full. I have all the clothes, food and other miscellaneous things I usually take for long outing lasting several weeks or more. I had all the pots, pans & cookware on board also. Here are the weights with me and one passenger in the vehicle:

Front Axle = 3,660 pounds
Rear Axle = 5,000 pounds
Vehicle total = 8,660 pounds

I guess I should off load the beer and ice cream until I am under weight!

The vehicle handles fine as far as I am concerned. Plenty of power to climb all the mountain passes I have gone over. Actually, I prefer to drive the Sprinter on mountain roads than my Honda Odyssey. I have driven the Sprinter through LA when the Santa Anna winds were blowing. The vehicle was easy to control. The thing that bothered me the most was that the drivers there still run bumper to bumper and go way to fast! The one thing that surprised me is how much the Sprinter will rock from side to side when diagonally crossing a valley gutter or speed bump at slow speeds. I have to remember that and look out for them when pulling off the highway or maneuvering through a parking lot.

Good luck with your choice.

Weighing like you did is the only way to know your weight for sure. I think I will weigh mine again as I suspect weight creep as I add those new can't do without items.

The rocking is there in all camper except maybe those big bus guys. Yes, you have to take it real slow and sometimes a gutter will look so shallow and then when I go over it, the bus rocks so bad I am afraid I am going to twist the frame! And you better be buckled in!

Regards,

Keith
