Easy oil change

I purchased the fumoto oil drain valve because my recently installed van compass skid plate (luv it) made wrenching on drain plug etc a pain
Prior to installing I tried my bucket mounted oil pump to suction through dipstick tube
It worked great , took about 10 minutes
Removed drain plug for swap out and found very minimal oil remaining in pan
Probably 20 ccs
👍
I will definitely be using pump whenever possible sooo easy and clean
Fumoto with short hose will be great improvement as back up

Good info. I bought a quick drain plug as well for next oil change, we have the VC skid plate installed as you do.

Same here. Just changed the oil using my newly installed quick change valve. Much easier and less mess draining through the VC skid plate. Takes a bit longer to drain but worth it.

Another vote for the quick drain valve. I installed one on my 2001 5.4 and love it, I'll for sure install one on my 2002 7.3. The last time I changed the oil on a 7.3, I pulled the drain plug with a 5 gallon bucket under it, and made a huge mess. The oil hit the bottom of the bucket and shot straight up the sides and out. A quick drain with a hose attached solves that problem nicely.

I also use a quick changer of sorts but different brand: https://www.uniquetruck.com/category...s?pagesize=100

I also purchased their drain hose but just the fitting only--added my own hose after it was delivered.

I don't have a skid plate et al to deal with but changing oil in my severely sloped driveway is at best "challenging" so any way to get the oil IN the catch pan is a good idea.
