El Kapitan Vans

OK, technically not about Sportsmobile but quite similar. I searched the forum for info on this company and their vans and didn't find much. Does anyone have much experience or feedback on the company and their vans. They look pretty good, but I don't know anything about the quality of their work. I also searched YouTube for a video of their factory and came up empty also. There are several videos of the various SMB factories and you can get a good feel for how they do things. We have visited all 3 of the SMB factories, some of them multiple times. Thanks for any info.

I stopped by that place years ago to see if they would do a conversion. At that time they had huge orders for vans going to China if I recall. No time for a local conversion but that may have changed. Seemed like a legit outfit and the people were nice.

I checked used one out about 18 months ago. Was a nice van at a killer price. The shitty electrical work is what turned me off. Seen shitty from SMB Fresno but Kapitan might have been worse especially on exterior lights.

I have had several El Kapitan vans. I purchased my first back in the 90s. I bought a custom sprinter from them in 2016. I sold that one and I recently just purchased their Story Maker model. All of the work has been top notch. The electrical system and lithium battery set up is quite professional.

I think there's several mtb folks big into vans. Nate hills + Jeff lenosky both borderline live out of theirs. Although neither drop the $$ into vans that Lopes seems to...

Lopes 55 is the OG van guy. Had his own Sportsmobile model back in the day.

Would be cool if he joined this forum.
