Just a reminder to SMB Sprinter owners
Make sure you check out the meetup/trip report section for the Jackson Hole meet and greet.
Hope to see you all there! They are great fun.

Re: Just a reminder to SMB Sprinter owners
Would love to be there in our Sprinter but too far a drive from AK. We have a nice old Westy in southern Oregon we might drive to JH if that would be OK?

Re: Just a reminder to SMB Sprinter owners
I am sure that is no problem. Many SMBers including me had a westy at one time or another.

And many others have a soft spot for Westys.
Mostly 'cause they never had to drive them.
I drove one across the country with my girlfriend and my two daughters. Would not have had a better time in the SMB. There is something about 35-40 mph up mountain passes in Colorado.

Re: Just a reminder to SMB Sprinter owners
LOL I know what you mean about the sloooow progress in the passes. We barely pass the semis crawling through Siskiyou Pass in the slow lane every time we head for the coast from Ashland. But hey, Vanna White our 3 speed automatic Westy is still fun to drive and cozy on a rainy day on the Oregon coast - the penthouse bed is actually wider by about 4 inches in the westy than our slightly wider and much taller Sprinter van -though we miss the Espar heat, refer and the much more functional storage in the Sprinter. Its tough to give up solstice week camping in AK but a road trip in Vanna from Ashland to Jackson Hole should be a lot of fun.

Looks like a late waterboxer with Mercedes wheels. Nice.

Yep. It wasn't just the vans, either. I have (fond?) memories of crossing the country several times in my old VW bugs in the '70s, and having to time lane changes in the canyons with gaps in the cross-winds! If you did it right, you could change lanes without even turning the wheel.
If you did it wrong, though...geez, those semi tires are BIG!
