Safelight is instructed to use an "aftermarket" replacement windshield before an OEM is 'approved'. The first windshield on my BMW X5 didn't play nice with my Heads-up display or the rain sensor, so they replaced it again with another aftermarket - same issue. 2 weeks later they installed the OEM and I had no more issues.
Earlier this year I had another rock spider the windshield. I showed Safelight the paperwork on the last attempts and they referred me to my Insurance Company. The conversation with Insurance revealed they want the aftermarket applied first, even though they know some of the vehicles will require an OEM Replacement.
So we went through the process a second time (aftermarket installed first, then replaced again with OEM).
I'd Contact the Insurance company and let them know you'd like an OEM replacement.
